David Limbaugh...."McCain Does Not Fit 'Conservative Definition'

and Peggy Noonan..."Breaking Up Is Hard to Do"

Both should be required reading for conservatives planning on voting.

OK I am ready!

Voting day is coming up and, although I waited with baited (bated?) breath for Thompson, I never was convinced I would be able to vote for him.  Now that he has made it impossible, I had the distasteful duty to find, out of the pathetic choices that have been given to me, just who I would decide to vote for in the primaries.  And so.....tada!    I will vote  for Romney to be the Republican nominee for POTUS.
I guess I am not the only one in FL who has come to that conclusion today because, altho McCain was leading in the polls first thing this morning,  I just read that Romney is now ahead.  And they didn't even call me to find out whether I had made up my mind or not!!!
After getting taped phone calls last night I am leaving the computer on dialup tonight!   Happy busy signal, fellas.

re:Medved's column

WOW!  The outpouring of anti-McCain in response to Medved's column was awesome!!  Any of those who feel strongly should read Coulter today.  Her column is the perfect answer to Medved.

And McCain is leading in the FL polls!   What will we do if it's McCain vs Clinton?
How do we end up with these horrible choices?

Boutte says

in an answer to Tony Blankley's column:
" The USA's future will be ever more taxes, quotas, bureaucracy, and racial tension under a spoils system." and goes on to say what the conservatives can do to prevent it.
With the lack of a good candidate in the Republican party I am not sure there is any way to prevent it.  It looks, at the minute, like at least 4 years of pure Democrat control.  Whether that will be enough to turn the stomachs of the nation or whether that will be enough to appoint enough liberal non-Constitutional judges remains to be seen.
As Neal Boortz said this morning, the people of this country want a nanny government,  they don't want to stand up for themselves and support themselves, but look to the government to give them everything.
For example, those people who made fraudulent applications for mortgages and now can't afford to pay for them want the government to bail them out and Congress thinks they can find a way.  As Neal kept saying, "People, suck it up!!"

New Hampshire

Voters fooled the pollsters!!  One person said he was giving all crazy answers to polls and it sounds like it spread to the whole state!  Fox held off declaring until it was too obvious that Shillery had won.  It will be interesting to see how this affects polls in the future.  Obama still did well but after the hype of how he was going to sweep it must have been a letdown.

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Just thought I'd get with the spirit!   If I get one more request for a contribution I will lose the spirit again quickly!
EVERYONE is asking for quick help before the end of the year.  Hmmmmm... maybe I should do that to help pay for the yearly bills!  Oh, I guess it's too late,....
but just in case , if anyone has a few thousand extra and wants to contribute, I will be happy to supply my address or my checking acct. number for direct deposit!
Come to think of it, if I gave to all these people and organizations asking for money, I really would be begging for help!
But meanwhile, I hope you all have a great 2008!  Wow... who'd have believed we'd be around for all these    2000- years!!  Along with all the other new developments that seems like a miracle.

romney

I just heard an interview with Romney on Fox re. the Bhutto assassination and it was superb!!  I haven't heard the reaction of anyone else but Romney sounded sensible, intelligent, and presidential.  This was the most he has impressed me so far.   I am sure we will hear from all of them but it will be hard to top this one.

no inspiration

Just finished reading jevica  (at  http://jevica2003.townhall.com/ )                                                            and I agree... no inspiration from these candidates!
I heard Fred Barnes the other night saying that the Republicans have cooked themselves for this election, but after two years of Democrat majority the result will be a backlash to put the Republicans back in in 2010.  If the Republicans don't change back to their beliefs I don't believe that will happen.
As someone said, "I haven't left my party...my party has left me."
I don't expect to agree with any candidate on all points but I would like to see one that came somewhere near what I believe a Republican should be.

compromise

Scathing Satirist has a suggestion for defeating Hellery which is as good as any I've seen.  He is for Giuliani for Pres and Huckabee for Veep.  Since I can't really get enthused about any of the Repub. candidates I am ready to back anyone who can beat her.  http://scathingsenior.townhall.com/
Maybe the duo he has suggested can be the answer.

Various and Sundry

 Interesting situation in the Southeast.
Due to serious drought, folks in Georgia need more water.  Atlanta's drinking water is at dangerous low.
If water is held up from flowing to Florida, shellfish will die putting fishermen out of business.
Governors of both states trying to solve difficult problem.
                                               ................................
Astronomers claim that they can see a distant galaxy throwing bad stuff at a neighboring galaxy.  Both galaxies are thousands and thousands of light years away from us.  (A light year is the distance it takes light to travel in a year).
Since the scene is so far away from us,  the actual event was happening hundreds or even thousands of years ago because that is how long it would take for the light to get here from there.
OK galaxies are not real close to each other so how can stuff from one galaxy get all the way to another?   How are we able to tell that this is happening?
The more you learn about the universe the harder it is to believe the whole thing.
                                                 .............................
The terrible weather in the whole midwest and northeast  is causing all kinds of problems...deaths, lack of electricity, damage to houses and cars...while here in Florida we had a heat wave which abruptly changed to a cold wave.   Now let's see... is it all caused by global warming?  or George Bush?  or Rove?   Or could it be just a normal blip in the weather and not in the climate?  I heard recently that the ice in the north was back to within 1% of normal and the ice in the south was heavier than ever.   So is the ice-melting only going to happen in the summer?
We are only about two feet above sealevel so I am watching for the ocean to come rushing in here any time.  Or am I safe for 30 or 40 years?
                                         ...........................................
Oh before I forget....Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
                                         .............................................
And if I offended anyone with that greeting I just have one thing to say.....
         GET A LIFE!!

"the Clinton Effect"

"The damage was done during the 90s when the Clintons regularly got away with outrageous behavior, stonewalling, or attacking any critical messenger whom they regarded as a liability.  Having not been adequately recognized for what it was, this malignancy on the current system continues to grow and spread."
This is from Christopher G. Adamo's column "Hopelessly Clouded Issues:
The Clinton Effect."
http://www.redstatesusa.com/archives/000858print.html

Anyone who reads this and still thinks the Clintons should be back in the White House needs ....?? a lobotomy?  an appointment with a psychiatrist?  or maybe just a list of those things the Clintons were responsible for.  Because of the bias of the media too many people have no idea just what a cancer on the American society the Clintons were or what damage they have done to this country.

Burt Prelutsky

One more link this morning.  If you haven't met Burt, you should.  He has a column every Monday and Friday.

I hope I got that right.  This column is great, but all of his columns are.

Day By Day

A daily cartoon says this morning:
"Iraq's turning around, the economy's good, pro-US leaders elected in Germany and France...and it turns out that in 2002 Democrats were all for water-boarding.
Must have seemed like the endless summer to Democrats this year."
